      <image:title>Blog - A Cool Kidney - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This image actually depicts the left kidney in a 5 MO FE Golden Retriever. Her left kidney measured only 2.7cm in length. This patient had always been a ‘poor-doer’ since acquired at 8 weeks of age. She had a history of intermittent diarrhoea and anorexia. Although her appetite had recently improved, she had started vomiting and had become lethargic. She had a mild, non-regenerative anaemia. Her biochemistry showed a severe azotaemia, hyperphosphataemia and hypochloraemia. Her right kidney, although larger at 4.9cm in length, also appeared significantly abnormal with a complete loss of renal architecture. A presumed diagnosis of congenital renal dysplasia was made. Her owners declined further investigation.</image:caption>
